Hope everyone is having a great day and enjoying the first day back from the holiday!
This post is kinda scattered and all over the place- just filling ya in on my life! Ha!! So stop reading now if it bores you.
Unfortunately… my weekend was only Sunday but I tried to make the most of it and still have fun!!
Friday was a great day! I got to cover the Texas Tech game from one of the local bars here… even though they were playing my Mustangs… it was still fun getting to be in on all of the action!
I entertained these two crazies for most of the morning, went to my favorite yoga class (obsessed with the teacher!!) and then headed into work.
Sunday… I was LAZY with a capital L in the morning… then finally got motivated to take a quick run around the block. Who decides to run at noon when living in a desert-like climate? Me.
I burned up and decided all I wanted in life was a smoothie. Oh wait. I only had some turkey and hummus and orange juice in the fridge at home… (yes, my food stock is quite pitiful these days) so I went to Keva Juice. And discovered I have a brand new addiction.
BEST SMOOTHIE EVER!! That’s saying a lot… because I’m reeeaaaallll picky when it comes to my smoothies! I have been craving one ever since. Aren’t y’all glad I post such cute pics of myself.
Then I ran to the grocery. Shopping at the grocery on a budget STINKS. I usually give myself between $35 and $45 (depending on what I need for that particular week) to spend. This lasts me about a full 7 days. This is kinda a high budget… but I eat every single meal basically at home. I have room to eat out once or twice a week… but that’s it and during the week it’s much more practical for me to eat at home.
I try my best to plan out my meals- and I am so boring- I always find a recipe that will last me basically the whole week and cook that for dinner and eat it every single night! Ha! Then sometimes I will make little snacks like homemade granola or energy bites… just depending on what I am in the mood for when the time comes.
I will try to do a whole post about this to see if it (hopefully) helps out others of you living on your own!
This week I made PB energy bites (added cocoa powder… they taste like Reeses!!) and Skinny Taste’s Zuchinni noodles and Turkey Meatballs. YUM! I will share more with you tomorrow on WIAW!
Sunday afternoon- I went to a Make a Wish party! It was a blast. This little girl named Alexa turned 5… but this wasn’t just any birthday party… Alexa is in remission right now from OMS… 1 in 10 million kids get it… and she has been in and out of chemotherapy 10 times in her little life.
Talk about a strong little girl. I must have teared up 10 times during the entire party- it was so sweet and she had so much support for her at the party. She is just adorable.
Cinderella came to surprise her and tell her she was going to Disney World to celebrate her remission with her parents!
When I moved here I knew I needed to get involved in something that helps others… so when a producer at our station told me about Make a Wish- I was all in and have loved every second I have gotten to be a part of it so far. I went to bed with a very full, happy heart. That’s what life is all about, right?
Monday morning I decided to skip my workout and sleep in a little bit… then give Laya some much needed attention! With my crazy work schedule I make an extra effort to spend as much time with her as possible and be a good mommy. I wear her wild self out in the mornings so that by the time I leave for work- she is more than ready to go night night.
Since it was Labor Day, I knew a lot of people would be at our favorite park with their dogs. We have a dog park at our apartment complex, but its fun to do something different so at least once a week I take her to the Texas Tech Terrace park. It’s not an official dog park… but so many people are out there with their puppies. She had a blast as usual and is still sleepy from it today.
Speaking of my puppy… I’m off to take her on her second walk before I head to work!
Have a great Tuesday!!
See ya tomorrow for What I Ate Wednesday!
